Internal and External Competitions
Mercer Law has one of the Nation’s largest advocacy competition programs, sending over thirty teams to external competitions across the United States. First year students can compete in the distinguished Lawson Moot Court Competition, an intra-school competition in appellate advocacy, as well as the Closing Argument Competition to hone their skills in trial advocacy. Other internal competitions run by the Mercer Advocacy Council include a mediation competition, a client counseling competition, an arbitration competition, and negotiation competition. Thus, Mercer advocates has extensive opportunities to gain advocacy experience and compete against the Nation’s best prospective advocates.
