The Prosecutorial Externship is a hybrid clinic in which students work in state or federal prosecutors’ offices. The course includes a weekly two-hour seminar requiring time sheets, reflective journaling, and other reading and assignments as appropriate. Students may be sworn in under the Student Practice Rule and may appear in court under the supervision of an attorney.

Students must work in their field placement at least 86 hours for 3 hours of credit, or at least 126 hours for 4 hours of credit. Third year students with a cumulative GPA of at least 83.00 at the time of registration may take the course for more than 4 credit hours, up to a maximum of 12 credit hours. Each extra credit hour beyond 4 credits requires an additional 42 hours of fieldwork. May be taken up to two times.

This course provides required hours for the Experiential Learning requirement. It also satisfies hours required for the Public Service Certificate. Graded S/U. Enrollment limit of 15 students.
