Dean's Message January 2025
January is a time of beginnings and endings. At Mercer Law, students returned to class meetings on January 13. The third-year students are reflecting upon the soon-to-be realization of a dream that has been years in the making: graduating from law school and becoming a lawyer. The second-year students are enjoying the freedom of selecting courses that relate to their interests, their externships, and the summer positions. The first-year students are adapting study plans for their second semester.
This work is supported by many, including the Registrar’s Office. LaShunda Walker, our terrific registrar, is featured in the January newsletter. The Registrar’s Office is especially busy in January with the posting of grades, the distribution of degree audits, the management of course registration, and preparation for commencement. This newsletter shares updates from our Corporate Counsel Externship Program and our Advocacy Program.
These stories remind us that Mercer Law is more than a building on Coleman Hill. Mercer Law is a community that reaches throughout the state, across the country, and around the world. Our alumni feature shares the accomplishments and contributions of Rizza and Daniel O’Connor. I know that all Mercer lawyers make impactful contributions every day. I hope to have the opportunity to learn about that great work at the Mercer Law Alumni Dinner in Atlanta on March 8.
