Denise M. Gibson is Mercer Law School’s Assistant Law Librarian for Research Services, a position she has held since 2001. She has over 37 years of professional and managerial experience in academic law and county libraries. In addition to overseeing Reference and Research Services, Ms. Gibson teaches law classes, including a two credit Advanced Legal Research elective and a required one credit Introduction to Legal Research course. She has also published extensively on conducting effective legal research in many areas of the law.
Ms. Gibson graduated from Nova Southeastern Shepard Broad Law School with a J.D. degree, and received a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) from Florida State University. Ms. Gibson received her B.A. degree, cum laude, with a double major in Sociology and Political Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is a member of the Macon Bar Association, American Bar Association, the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), the South Eastern Chapter of AALL (SEAALL), and CALI. She had been elected to serve as President, Vice President and Secretary of the South Florida Association of Law Libraries (SFALL). Ms. Gibson presented at a number of conferences, and had been appointed to leadership positions on numerous professional committees throughout her career.
