A Note from the Dean

October 2023

Every Mercer Lawyer is part of Mercer Law’s legacy of preparing students to practice with purpose. I hope you will join with us in celebration as the law school recognizes a series of milestones over the next three years.

The first milestone is the 150th anniversary of our founding. Mercer Law began with the recognition that lawyers play important roles in ensuring access to legal services and providing valuable services to the community. Mercer Law was just the second law school in the state of Georgia. When the law school was founded in 1873, we could not imagine what would happen in the next 150 years. Much has changed. What has remained constant is the need for lawyers who have the knowledge, skills, and values to advance the goals for clients and promote justice.

Our special 150th Anniversary Celebration at the Grand Opera House will bring together Mercer Law alumni, students, staff, faculty, and friends. This celebration is to recognize that each day Mercer Lawyers make a difference. With every client representation, leadership role, and community service, Mercer Lawyers change the world.

The next 150 years will bring challenges and opportunities that we can only imagine. No matter what those challenges and opportunities may be, Mercer Law will be ready. After 150 years, we’re only getting started.

Best wishes,

Karen Sneddon signature
