On Thursday, March 7, 2013 the Association of Women Law Students hosted the 15th Annual Charity Auction and Ball at the Armory Ballroom in downtown Macon. They raised over $12,000 to benefit two local charities – Jay’s Hope and The Methodist Home for Children. In the past three years, they have raised over $50,000 to support local charities.
Items offered in the live auction by auctioneer and professor, Chris Wells, included weekend vacation stays in Hilton Head and Rosemary Beach, participation in a tennis tournament with Mercer professors and the opportunity to create your own theme song. This means owning the rights to your own song, written for you by professional composer and producer Mark Anthony Chubb, the husband of Professor Teri McMurtry-Chubb. Several bar prep courses were also offered for auction.
Jay’s Hope helps improve the quality of life of children with cancer and their families. The Methodist Home for Children offers many services, including a residential program, emergency placement services for children, and several community-based and educational services.
