Anton F. Mertens, ’87, joined the Atlanta Office of Burr & Forman as a partner in December 2012. Burr & Forman, a Southeast regional firm with over 300 attorneys, represents clients in numerous practice areas, ranging from commercial litigation and class actions to corporate transactions, including bankruptcy and restructurings. Mertens advises clients in several immigration matters, including visas, labor certifications, compliance procedures, consular representation and citizenship for foreign executives, managers and professionals.
Prior to joining Burr & Forman, Mertens was a partner at Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP. He is a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney and involved in several professional organizations, including the Atlanta Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Global Commerce Council of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, and the Immigration Law section of the State Bar of Georgia. He is also a frequent lecturer and the author of numerous articles dealing with corporate immigration matters. Mertens currently serves as the Secretary of the Mercer University School of Law Alumni Board of Directors.
