Mercer Law Frederick Douglass Team Places Third in Nation in NBLSA Moot Court Competition!

The Frederick Douglass Moot Court team, consisting of Antoine Bostic (3L) and Clayton Eichelberger (2L), won second runner up out of over 100 teams across the nation at the 43rd Annual NBLSA Convention.  This is the third year in a row that Mercer Law BLSA has been awarded for their outstanding performance at the regional and/or national levels in the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition. This year’s team was coached by Louise Emeagi-Smith and Christi Thornton, the 2009-2010 Frederick Douglass team.

Mercer Law Alumnus Johann "Chip" Manning Appointed Director of Babson Center for Global Commerce

Mercer Law School alumnus Johann “Chip” Manning has been appointed director of the Babson Center for Global Commerce at the University of the South, effective April 1.  Manning is currently a senior vice president and general counsel at the University.

Mercer’s Black Law Student Association Places in Regional Moot Court Competition

Congratulations to Mercer Law Students Antoine Bostic and Clayton Eichelberger, who advanced out of the Southern Region of the Black Law Student Association (BLSA) Frederick Douglas Moot Court Competition and will be competing in the National Competition in Houston, Texas.

Mercer Law Students Emilie Leech and Craig Cooper Reach Regional Final in ABA Client Counseling Competition

Congratulations to the Mercer Counselors! At the recent ABA Southeast Regional Client Counseling Competititon held at Emory Law School, Emilie Leech and Craig Cooper advanced to the championship round and lost in a tight split decision to Nova. This is the sixth time in the last six years that Mercer teams have advanced to the regional championship round in the ABA competition. Next year, Mercer will host the regionals for the ABA.

Law Alumnus Sharri Edenfield Wins State Bar's Signature Service Award

Mercer Law School Alumnus and Statesboro attorney Sharri Edenfield has been named inaugural recipient of the State Bar of Georgia’s Young Lawyers Division’s Signature Service Award for service and commitment to the community through involvement in civic or community organizations.
