Moot court team earns 2nd place in Buffalo competition
A moot court team at Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law were finalist in the Buffalo Herbert Wechsler Criminal Law Moot Court Competition, finishing second in a field of 26 teams. The event was held March 28 at Buffalo School of Law.
The team argued in the final round before a bench consisting of two judges of the New York Court of Appeals, a federal district judge, and a state Supreme Court justice.
Team members included students Jennifer Friend and Sarah Smith, and Assistant Professor Sue Painter-Thorne served as faculty coach. April Holloway and Lyndsey Hurst served as the student coaches.
“It was an outstanding round with very difficult questioning, but Sarah and Jennifer were at their best and performed brilliantly,” said Professor Tim Floyd, a coordinator of Mercer’s moot court and mock trial program. |
