The Organization
ILSA strives to achieve these goals through its various projects and publications. ILSA administers the Internships and Studies Abroad in International Law (ISAIL) program, which includes bilateral academic, cultural, and professional exchanges among ILSA members from Chapters of different countries. ILSA sponsors various legal and educational publications, which include the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law, jointly published with Nova Southeastern, Shepard Broad Law Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; ILSA Quarterly (formerly Ad Rem: The Quarterly Magazine of the International Law Students Association); the Jessup Compendium; and the Jessup Reporter.
As the main component of ILSA, the principal goal of an ILSA chapter - commonly known as an International Law Society (ILS) - is to expose international law to law students and other individuals who are interested in the challenges that lie beyond their cultures and outside their country’s borders. The ILS provides a vehicle through which the scope of, and opportunities in, the ever-changing world of international law are continuously available. An ILS chapter provides a forum exposing law students, faculty and members of the university community at large to the reality of a world in which international law plays an ever-growing role. Thus, the ILS, through its programs, generates an awareness of international law and its impacts on society.
Our Purpose
The purpose of ILSA is to promote awareness, study and understanding of international law and related issues. ILSA’s goals are to encourage communication and cooperation among law students and other interested individuals internationally; increase opportunities to learn about other cultures and legal systems worldwide; and publicize career opportunities in international law.
