Laptop Program

The Law School implemented a mandatory laptop program to better serve our students' technical support needs. With standardized hardware and software configurations, the technology staff is able to quickly diagnose and solve technical support problems, provide customized technology training for our students, and ensure that students wishing to take exams on computer have the ability to do so. Additionally, by using standardized software and hardware, our technology staff is able to better control potential damage caused by hackers and virus attacks. We also provide our students with an identical "loaner" laptop when a laptop needs repair, ensuring that our students will always have a laptop available.

Although the exact specifications change from year to year, the following is representative of a typical student laptop:

Hardware:

  • Intel® Core™ Duo Processor
  • Widescreen LCD Panel
  • Sufficient Memory
  • SATA Hard Drive
  • DVD+/-RW
  • Wired and wireless network capabilities

Software:

  • Latest version of Microsoft Windows
  • Microsoft Office Professional
  • Electronic Bluebook (secure testing software)
  • Anti-Virus

Service:

  • Three-Year Next Business Day Parts and Labor Warranty with On-site Response
  • Three-Year CompleteCare Accidental Damage Warranty

Miscellaneous:

  • Nylon Carrying Case
  • Second AC Adapter
  • USB preloaded with Orientation Materials

You will receive your laptop during orientation. In addition, you will receive instruction on how to connect to the Law School's network, access your personal network drive, and access printers throughout the building. During orientation, you will also be introduced to our technology staff, who will assist you with any questions you may have about your laptop and its software as you go through your education at the Law School.

If you have any questions or concerns about the laptop program before orientation, please contact Chris Osier, Instructional Technology Coordinator.
