Public Interest Resources

For the most part, the sites provide information about the organizations. Some list positions. Many provide information about internship programs.

General Resources

    The National Association for Public Interest Law: Contains information about student and graduate job opportunities, fellowships, funding resources, loan repayment assistance and more. Probably the best site around for general information on public interest careers. Also contains lots of great links to public interest resources, information and employment opportunities. This should be the first site you visit when investigating public interest careers!

    Public Services Law Network Worldwide: PSLawNet serves as a national clearinghouse for paid and pro bono opportunities ( public interest and international internships, fellowships and permanent jobs) for law students and attorneys. Searchable database of opportunities. Must register as a Mercer student or graduate.

    Essential Home Page: This page provides extensive information about a variety of public interest organizations, most based in Washington , DC. It also is the home of the Good Works home page which provides a searchable database of public interest positions nationwide.

    Idealist: This site provides link to organizations in over 120 countries. Many of the sites contain both internship and permanent positions with public interest organizations in virtually every issue area.

    Enviolink: While primarily a site dedicated to environmental issues and resources it has an excellent link to the Center for Campus Organizing which lists internship and other public interest job opportunities.

    Fair Housing: A nationwide page for attorneys and advocates interested in housing issues. The job opportunities page lists positions for lawyers, advocates and non-profit managers with organizations nationwide.

    A Call to Serve: Leaders in Education Allied for Public Service. The Partnership for Public Service has joined with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to develop this national initiative, designed to educate about the importance of a strong civil service, help re-establish links between federal agencies and campuses, and provide students with information about federal jobs.  This site includes information regarding applying for federal employment, contains profiles of various opportunities with federal agencies (throughout the country), and links to each agency’s main and job listing web pages.  It profiles specific federal opportunities by interest areas such as Economics, Education, Health, Human Resources, Law Enforcement, and Public Relations.http://www.ourpublicservice.org/workforusa/workforusa.htm
