Mercer Law Remembers Professor Reynold Kosek.

Professor Reynold Joseph Kosek, Jr., age 64, of Ormond Beach, Florida died on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at his home. He had waged a long and incredibly courageous battle against cancer. The Law School will honor Professor Kosek's memory and celebrate his life with a memorial service on Friday, April 27 at 10:30 a.m. in the Moot Courtroom.

New York Times Best Selling Author and Alumnus Steve Berry to Speak at Mercer Law School

New York Times best-selling author and Mercer University law alumnus Steve Berry will speak Feb. 3 at noon in the classroom A of the Mercer Law School. Following the presentation will be a question and answer session for Berry, as well as a book signing. The event is free and open to the public.

Mercer Alumnus Michael Boggs appointed to Georgia Court of Appeals

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal appointed Judge Michael P. Boggs, Superior Court Judge in the Waycross Judicial Circuit and 1990 Mercer Law graduate, to the Georgia Court of Appeals in December, 2011. Judge Boggs was sworn in on Friday, Jan. 6 in the state House of Representatives chamber. A former Georgia state representative, Boggs has been on the Waycross Judicial Circuit bench for over six years. He serves as a member of the Special Council on Criminal Justice Reform Nominating Commission, the Judicial Council of Georgia Standing Committee on Accountability Courts and is the founding director of the Waycross Judicial Circuit Drug Court program.

Alumna Lisa Herndon Appointed to Fifth Judicial Circuit Court

Tallahassee, Fla. – Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Lisa D. Herndon of Ocala to the Fifth Judicial Circuit Court. Herndon, 46, has been an assistant state attorney with the State Attorney’s Office for the Fifth Judicial Circuit since 1997 and with the Tenth Judicial Circuit from 1990 to 1997. Herndon received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and a law degree from the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law.

Inaugural Brainerd Currie Lecture on Wednesday, Sept. 21

Gary J. Simson, Mercer Law Dean and Macon Chair in Law, will deliver the first annual Brainerd Currie Lecture on “Choice of Law after the Currie Revolution: What Role for the Needs of the Interstate and International Systems?” The lecture will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011 at 4 p.m. in the moot courtroom of the Law School. The event is free and open to the public.
