Technology
Technology is integrated into all aspects of
the learning environment at the law school, evidenced by Mercer
Law being named at the "Top of the Technology Class" among
all law schools nation-wide for its use of technology (National
Jurist Magazine, January 2005) and one of the "Most Wired Law Schools"
in the country (National Jurist Magazine, March 2001).
All incoming first year students receive personal
laptop computers, to further prepare them for practicing law with
technology. Faculty, staff, and students have University-provided
email accounts and individual network space for document storage.
In
the main law school classrooms, more than 600 student seats are
wired with network access and electrical connections for personal
laptop computers. These classrooms are also outfitted with state-of-the-art
instructional technology including computers with DVD capability,
VCRs, document cameras, and projectors. Interactive white boards
in three seminar classrooms are used extensively by faculty, as
well as by students in preparing for moot court competitions and
trial practice. Similarly, the recently renovated Courtroom provides
access to the latest courtroom technology, including sound, video,
and computing capabilities for attorneys, judges, jurors, and students.
Mercer is also among a growing number of law schools that allow
students to write their exams on their laptops using secure exam
software.
The law school web site has been designed to
provide the entire law school community with information about the
law school. The site offers every current student the ability to
check course pages, assignments, and grades online, and all of our
students are also able to add student organizational meetings, announcements,
and items of interest to an online interactive calendar.
