The Legal Writing Institute

The Legal Writing Institute http://www.lwionline.org (LWI) is the world's largest organization devoted to improving legal writing, and it makes its home at Mercer. LWI's membership includes some 1,800 lawyers, judges, and legal writing teachers from across the United States and from Europe, Asia, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The Institute's biennial summer conferences bring together approximately 400 legal writing professors representing nearly every accredited law school in the nation.

The Institute provides a forum for discussion and scholarship about legal writing, analysis, and research. It publishes The Second Draft, a semi-annual newsletter including short articles on topics pertaining to legal writing, and The Journal of the Legal Writing Institute, a peer-edited scholarly journal dedicated to legal writing topics.
