Results of 2011 Milani Writing Competition Announced

MACON - Martin Daniel Quinones and Rachel Schwartz, both students at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, are the winners of this year’s Adam A. Milani Disability Law Writing Competition. The Adam A. Milani Disability Law Writing Competition is a national disability law writing competition sponsored by Mercer University School of Law and the ABA Commission on Mental and Physical Disability Law. The competition honors the work of the late Professor Adam Milani, a passionate advocate for disability rights, an accomplished legal scholar, and a beloved faculty member at Mercer Law School.

Constitution Day 2011

Noted constitutional law scholar Kathryn Abrams, a professor at University of California, Berkeley Law School, will present “Fear and Loathing in Maricopa County: The Emotions of Immigration Regulation” at Mercer Law School’s Constitution Day celebration. The event will take place at noon on Friday, Sept. 16 in the moot courtroom of the Law School. It is free and open to the public.

Mercer Students Place in IADC Legal Writing Contest

Third year Law student Terri K. Benton won first place in the 2011 International Association of Defense Counsel Legal Writing Contest. Her paper titled "Where Do I Fit In? Citizenship Claims and the §1332 Diversity Statute in Underwriters at Lloyd’s v. Osting-Schwinn” won amongst stiff competition and strong submissions to the contest according to IADC.

Mercer Community Mourns Death of Law Graduate Lauren Giddings

Hundreds of family and friends filled St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in downtown Macon on Saturday, July 9, 2011, for a memorial mass in honor of Lauren Giddings, a 2011 graduate of Mercer Law School.
